Despite this, the ration cards of 23 lakh 53 thousand 760 people were found to be fake during the investigation during the period from 2014 to 2021. That is, they were not eligible to take ration as per the rules. After investigation, their names have been removed from the BPL list.
Madhya Pradesh is number four among fake ration card holders in the country. Uttar Pradesh is at number one. 70 percent population of the state in BPL list, more than 1 crore families registered

Disturbances in the Prime Minister's Garib Kalyan Yojana
Officials said that from 2020-21 to January 15, 2022, 30 complaints related to irregularities in distribution of ration under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana have been received in MP. After investigation, FIR was registered against 29 people in this. Maximum 15 people involved in the disturbance were from Raisen district. 10 people were from Bhopal, who caused damage to the state government by creating disturbances.
People included in 24 categories get ration
The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has included 24 categories as priority families along with Antyodaya Anna Yojana families among the eligible families under the Public Distribution System (PDS). All BPL families are included in these categories. Apart from this, 23 other categories of non-BPL families have also been included.
