Captain Yash Dhul, who made India the winner in the Under-19 World Cup, has been added by Delhi Capitals (DC). Yash will debut in the 15th season of IPL for the first time. Yash is excited to play against his idol Virat Kohli. He told Dainik Bhaskar that he is happy to be associated with DC, as Delhi Capitals is his home team. He has taken training in the academy of Delhi Capitals itself. From the beginning, he used to follow DC and his players. Here are the excerpts from the conversation with Yash Dhul...

Question- Did you expect any team to bid on you in IPL?
Answer- Based on my performance in the Under-19 World Cup, I was confident that some team would definitely bid on me. I was hoping that the Delhi Capitals team would definitely repose their faith in me as I belong to the Delhi Capitals academy. Many times senior players used to come and guide us. The team management was also aware of my game. So I was sure that Delhi Capitals would definitely give me a chance in the IPL.
I also wanted my career in IPL to start from Delhi Capitals itself, because I used to follow the players of this team since childhood.
Question- You have started cricket at the Delhi Capitals academy, how much has the academy contributed to your career?
Answer- It was only after coming to Delhi Capitals academy that my game improved. I got a chance to plug the flaws in my technique. Also got the support of the coach here. Senior players of the Delhi Capitals also used to visit the academy and share their experiences. Seeing him inspired me to be like him.
I got a chance in the Delhi U-16 team first. After that, I was selected in the Under-19 team and got a chance to captain in the World Cup.
Q: How do you see that Delhi Capitals has reposed faith in you?
Answer- I am excited to play for Delhi Capitals. There are players like Rishabh Pant, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh in this team. Excited to share the dressing room with him. You will get to learn a lot from them. At the same time, the experience of team coach Rinke Ponting will also benefit. I hope to be able to improve my game further.
Question- You scored a century in both the innings of your debut match against Tamil Nadu in Ranji and double century against Chhattisgarh, how important is your performance before IPL?
Answer- This kind of performance before IPL has increased my confidence. IPL is a big platform and performing well here also opens the door of entry into Team India. In such a situation, if runs come off your bat in this league, then you get the motivation to do better.
Who is your Ideal Player?
Former India captain Virat Kohli is my idol player. I am looking forward to playing against him in the IPL.
Even under Kohli's captaincy, Team India won the World Cup in 2008, you are being compared to him, what would you say on this?
It is not fair to compare me with Kohli bhaiyya. Whenever I get a chance in Team India, I would like to play for the country like him.
Delhi Capitals have players like Prithvi Shaw, Devin Warner, and Mitchell Marsh, is it a challenge for you to make it to the playing XI?
I am ready to play any batting order as per the requirement of the team. If given a chance, I will give 100 percent of my ability.
