The census of tigers has started in the country from March 11. Madhya Pradesh has got the title of 'Tiger State' for the last 4 years. According to the census of the year 2018, there are 2967 tigers in the country, out of which Madhya Pradesh alone has 526 tigers. But now there is a danger looming over the Tigers in the Tiger State. National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) figures show that since January 2022, 30 tigers have died across the country, out of which 8 are from Madhya Pradesh. If the average is taken out, every 9th day a tiger is dying in the state. In such a situation, the question arises whether Madhya Pradesh will be able to maintain the status of 'Tiger State' in the ongoing tiger census?

Most of the deaths occurred in Pench Tiger Reserve

A total of 8 tigers have died in Madhya Pradesh this year, out of which 3 tigers have died in the Pench Tiger Reserve. Two tigers have died in Kanha Tiger Reserve and Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. At the same time, a tigress also died outside the Tiger Reserve in Dholar village of Amjor range. Similarly, 42 tigers died in Madhya Pradesh last year, out of which 10 tigers died in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.

The tigress collar also departed this year

The tigress collared world famous as 'Super Mom' also left the world this year. The collared tigress has also been named 'Most Famous Tigress in India'. This tigress gave birth to 29 cubs in just 10 years. This tigress has played an important role in giving Madhya Pradesh the title of Tiger State.

On January 15, the collared tigress died due to multiple organ failure, after which former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar condoled, saying, 'Only those who live wild life understand how sad the loss of the collared tigress is. Is. Stay calm collared.

Lack of space is the major reason for the deaths of tigers

The main reason for the deaths of tigers in Madhya Pradesh is their mutual fight and the reason for the mutual fight is less space. On an average, a tiger needs 15 to 20 square kilometers of space to live. But there are 7 tiger projects for 526 tigers in the state (Pench National Park, Kanha Kisli, Satpura National Park, Panna National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Ratapani Sanctuary), which has 5142 square kilometer space, i.e. one tiger. It has got only 9 square kilometer space. In such a situation, the tigers fight among themselves to save their territory and they die. Nitin Desai, director of the Wildlife Preservation Society of India, told in a special conversation with Bhaskar that due to the increase in the number of tigers, territorial fight also takes place, so it is also being viewed in a positive way. He further said that one of the reasons for the territorial fight is not getting food.

Tiger Reserve's expansion gets stuck in government files

To stop the rising figure of tiger deaths, it is necessary to expand the Tiger Reserve. But due to the apathy of the government and administration and the opposition of the local people, they could not expand. For example, Ratapani Sanctuary of Raisen area was to become a tiger reserve but till now it has not been approved by the state government. Raisen's Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vijay Kumar told Bhaskar that he had passed the tiger reserve file a year ago. Approval is yet to be received from the state and central government.
