Bhopal has the highest number of oral cancer patients in the world, while Bangladesh is at number two. Bhopal has got this place because of the addiction of the people here to eat tobacco and not get tested. According to International Research published by Gandhi Medical College, 12.5 people out of one lakh population of the city are suffering from oral cancer. At the same time, Bhopal has the highest number of patients in India in terms of dental disease. The information collected by a private medical college from the dentists of the city revealed that every second person in the city is suffering from some or the other dental disease.
A major reason in both these cases is that men and women of MP including Bhopal are behind in getting the teeth and mouth examined. According to the last report of the National Family Health Survey, only 1% of 1000 men and 0.7% of women in MP get oral tests done. Dr. Anuj Bhargava, HOD of GMC Dentist Department said that due to lack of screening, minor diseases are increasing. That is why the prevention and detention facility is going to be started in the dentist department of Gandhi Medical College, in which random oral cavity screening will be done from the patients coming to Hamidia.
Due to wrong addiction, more
oral cancer patients are more in Bhopal, because people always avoid getting their teeth and mouth examined here. In view of this problem, now the random test will be increased in Gandhi Medical College, so that the disease can be detected before time. -Doctor. Anuj Bhargava, HOD, Dentist Department, GMC
